maybe I'm bad at math.... 850

As a relatively new owner of a V70, I've been reading the brickboard for about a year, and have occasionally been freaked out by discussions of how expensive volvos are to maintain. Then I did the math on the reported repair costs faced by some of the more regular contributors to such discussions. To take one of the worst examples (I forget whose, sorry), it was about a $500 repair bill (leaving out routine maintenance costs, I assume) every other oil change. OK, we'd all prefer not to have to do that. But assuming you change the oil every 3 months, that's somewhere around $1000 per year in repairs, which, for those of us who live on a budget, works out to $83 a month. If you're a college student or someone in financial crisis, that can be a lot, but then someone in financial crisis probably isn't in the market for a volvo anyway. For me, an extra $83 a month is worth it not to have to drive around the ugly, boring, uncomfortable, and, yes, ultrareliable toyota I used to have. Just a thought for those who might get overly nervous reading all the tales of woe here....
