Or family has had our 96 850 since 97. It was a Herzt Rental car before we leased it from a dealer in Portland. It only has 68,000 on it and repairs have minimal. We had a brake job a few months ago and that was the only major work that I remember.
Friend of mine bought a 95 with over 100K and he has not had any repairs either. I think he will need new shocks soon but that's not something that Volvo's alone experience.

So I guess like any car there are bad ones (like these folks have unfortunately) and there are good ones like we've found. I'm actually thinking about buying one myself.
