We've had our 1995 850 Turbo wagon for a little over 5 years. It now has 95k miles on the odometer.
To repeat what has been said before, life with our 850 has been a love-hate affair. The positive points are, speed, comfort, design and room. The negative has been repairs. Other than the AC evaporator, nothing too expensive, although a lot of little stuff. Mainentance is no higher than on other mid to high end cars.
After the AC evaporator was replaced, I decided to do all the work myself and it's worked out well. Last week I replaced both front seat back cables. The car seems pretty well built and fairly easy to work on compared to other modern cars.
When buying a used 850, but a Turbo! The rush of the turbo spooling up shouldn't be allowed in a wagon. A full set of maintenance records is also a must. If it's higher mileage, most of the repairs have already probably been repaired and you can expect a somewhat less expensive ownership period. With the cost of used 850's so, what I consider cheap, even with some repairs the car is still a heckuva deal.
Would I buy another? YES! I've had my eye out for a low mileage turbo wagon for some time.
