Hi,
When it comes to volume controls a replacement unit will probably not be obtainable.
The boogie boo with potentiometers is they’re not all linear in amounts of volume change as it turns. You have to measure the old one very closely to find out the total range so be prepared to do your research.
In my young days, when my Dad was still alive working on early hard wired TVs.
I saw him use a product called “No Noise” made specifically for the purpose to restore the wiper contacts inside the control. That stuff was magic in a can!
The next best thing to try to locate is a color TV tuner cleaner, that’s also was a spray on or into product. Mechanical tuners have been out of favor for so long, it’s like watching UHF channels that was also a “free over the air” media, in my day, just disappeared! ?14 to 82?
He had to use these products through tiny factory punch holes in their sheet metal cases.
He also had the stuff enter from the terminal exits or even drill his own access holes with grease on the tip of a drill to capture the few chips. The hole only had to be the size of the spraying tube.
Maybe Art would know of a product that serves the same purpose today?
