BW35 no 2-3 shift 140-160 1974

If it takes off fine in 1st, reverse is fine, as is the 1-2 shift; is it likely bands (i.e. a do it yourself thing) or a sticking valve?

Posting for a friend, but I may end up with this car as she's moving... it's blue, I can't just leave it stranded.

She says the symptoms just gradually came on. I think it was overreving, not slipping into 3rd. It doesn't run hot.

I'm in the dark, anybody with illuminating comments?

Thanks, as always. -sean
