When I try to start my 1989 740 GL the car cranks but does not start. On subsequent tries if I feed it gas by stepping on the accelorator it usually starts and runs normally. This problem is intermittent but frequent. I read the FAQs indicating the cause could be the Fuel Pump Relay, the Radio Suppression Relay or the RPM sensor. The tachometer moves when I crack the engine and the car fails to start. Apparently its not an RPM sensor problem.
If the problem is the Fuel Pump Relay or the Radio Suppression Relay why would stepping on the accelator correct the problem? I suspect there is some other cause. Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks,
Wally
