I'm talking about safety in the matter that you have more traction available to you. When you need to slam on the brakes, with better tires you will stop faster, and in less distance. Same goes for going around corners. You accidentally overestimate a corner and go in too hot, your better tires will give you a better safety margin, assuming you would be traveling at the same speed on worse tires into the same corner.
