It is indeed counterclockwise.

Assuming the timing, dwell and wire order are right, and that there's spark, what to check next?

I figure as long as I have the valve cover off -- again! -- I'll recheck the valve clearances. Though I didn't change them by much when I adjusted them so I doubt that's it.

Could this be a carb issue?
