I think maybe you are getting ripped off. All of the work you listed that you had done should not have cost anywhere near $6000. $2000 tops. If you did work yourself $500 tops. I suggest you start doing your own work on your car as you will save a lot of money plus possibly do a better job plus you would have the satisfaction of doing it yourself. If you plan on continuing to have work done where you have been going then yes indeed do get rid of the car. I have both an '87 and an '86 with combined mileage of about 325,000 and between both cars spend on average no more than about $600 a year on both total.
