When is it enough? 200

There is really something wrong with the $6K figure, perhaps the dealer and Volvo original parts markup! For less than that (about $4K) in parts and machining, I stripped a 92 245 bare, suspension and all (except for the interior), rebuilt the engine with new pistons, porting boring and so on. From there, full IPD suspension upgrades, all urethane bushings, all new brake lines (SS), rebuilt calipers, new rotors, pads, hardware, E-brake assemblies and so on. Even repainted the engine compartment when it was stripped bare naked.

Did I use true Volvo parts everywhere? No, only where it counted like pistons and caliper rebuild kits. Yes, except for the engine machining, I did all the work myself, so my numbers are skewed.

My advice would be to hang on to the car, get a Bentley manual, and get a little greasy. For electrical items, the Volvo electrical green wiring manual is around $20, excellent resource for a 240!

Good luck!

ps. Now that you have fixed everything on the car, the service foreman wants you to trade it in so he can buy it for pennies on the dollar! LOL!
