it is enough when you have given up, and then the answers still don't reveal themselves and your wallet says "No." Many times the answers to perplexing problems reveal themselves at the last moment, when we have truly accepted that we do not know the answer - that is the moment when our preconceived notions are dropped and the true nature of our task is shown.
We have learning experiences in our repairs and re-repairs. Look for the lesson in your mistakes and you will be the wiser. Otherwise you are paying someone else to learn the lesson. Unless you have replaced 20 waterpumps and still get it wrong you are not a bad mechanic.
Remember to read the introduction to every chapter in the repair book. And with the intro to many brickboard instructions "Take your time."
Every part of life is somewhere along the route of up-down-up-down - accept it and be not frustrated by something you are not a pro at - Jimi Hendrix practiced incessantly, Bill Gates burned the midnight oil, etc.
