The '84 turbo is prone to this occasionally, too; I've just attributed it to all the city driving causing a lot of moisture accumulation without a chance to really warm up and dry it out. A good highway run takes care of it but a couple times it's been blowing so much oil past the turbo seals when it freezes that I've pulled the pcv hoses and taken them inside to thaw and clear the sludge.
