Thanks Bob. Mine is definitely the one you describe as the "coffee can on the firewall" type, and I know I'm using tthe right port. As I mentioned in a new post I started, the amt. of refrigerant is fine ( a bit too much in fact), but the compressor will only run for a few seconds after it powers up, A mystery, at least to me (air cond. always baffled me...) Jim
