Sorry to hear about this. Sometimes homeowners' insurance covers car damage while on the property. I have my PV insured with American Collectors Insurance at a cost of about 1% of value. They do not require a formal appraisal, as many others do, and are fairly liberal about annual mileage. Like most others, they require that the car be stored in a lockable garage. I don't know how that would affect their handling of an incident like yours.
