how would I know if my fuel was boiling? 120-130

I'm not really having those symptoms, but my fuel consumption seems excessive. The consumption rate is consistent with a fuel leak, but there is no leak that I can find, and I'm using a pre-pump filter, and a older glass-dome filter and Grosse jets in my reservoirs.

I'm also still mulling over adding heat-foil insulation to my hood and have received no clear answer on the effects of reflecting all that heat back onto the engine. I'd think the extra heat would be bad for the engine and cooling system...

I do have a standard HS6 heat-shield with chrome-reflective paint in place, but I've been mulling over adding a pair of those phenolic spacers, which are supposed to eliminate fuel boiling issues.
