how would I know if my fuel was boiling? 120-130

nah.. you don't need that other spacer. What you need is a proper tune up... Make sure there are no leaks, then make sure your ignition and fuel components are in good order, and properly adjusted.

'Properly adjusted' can be rather subjective. I've always found that what the book tells you to do is a good base point to start... then it's a bit of trial and error, adjusting as you go until everything is right.

and that ain't easy... I really only feel like I got my 1800s 'just right' once... such that both power and economy were better than they've ever been... That resulted in about 10,000 miles of bliss. The other 240,000 miles on that car have been close, but not perfect.
