clearing codes 200 1991

A ha! That would explain why when we reset the codes using the OBD port, the car would still idle okay (lumpy, but not stalling) at 1500rpm with no CEL for an hour or so before tripping the CEL again. If we pulled the battery and reset everything, the car would stall until it was warmed up and driven around for awhile, so it had a chance to adapt. So, the idle it has now is based on the adaptation of this condition.

Based on the things Laine said, this is starting to really line up with a bad AMM, but I don't want to jump to conclusions. I will still check out the O2 sensor readings, the AMM voltage while off, and see if I can dig into the cold start injector.

It would be wonderful if I knew someone local in South Florida that wouldn't mind letting me test a good AMM to see if that cures the problem. That would take 5 minutes and completely rule out one of the biggest culprits. I'll keep digging.

Thanks for everyone's help, I've really learned a lot about this Volvo's ECU today.
