89 245 random stalling problem 200 1989

Hi All- I am new to this board and new to Volvos..
So here is the deal.. I recently bought an 89 245 5spd with 180k miles. She is a super clean, ultra well maintained, 2 owner, rust-free AZ car. I got a deal on her (I think..) but there was one catch: The PO said that every now and then it would just up and die. He was told it was probably the "computer".
So, sure enough it drives awesome for a few days and then BAM, drops dead right when I slowed down to turn into my driveway.
First thing I did was to pick up a tested/used ecu (exact same as what was in the car, white label, made in germany #933 calif model w/egr). Drives fine for a week and then dies again.
Second try, I replaced the AMM with a cleaned/tested/used one. Drives fine again for a couple days and then dies again.
Anybody have any clues or advise?
Should also mention that when it dies it will not restart again no matter how long you crank it. BUT if you disconnect the battery for just a minute it will start right back up and purr like a kitten. Also when it dies, it just flat out dies, no stumble or anything..
Please keep in mind that I have VERY VERY limited mechanical knowledge (I didn't even know what an AMM was until a few weeks ago!), so please assume that I am a total idiot when answering.
Thanks for the help!
Tom
