So I tried to take it for a drive yesterday. It idles very nicely, after a bit of trouble starting. I cleaned the heck out of the idle control motor and it idles very well now. Sitting in the garage, it revs nicely.
When driving, it hesitates and surges really badly right of idle and still won't really pick up at any good speed, except for in small bursts, randomly. Once the rpms get up above 3000, it runs smoother, though it still lacks power.
I hooked up a fuel pressure tester tonight, and got 30psi consistently, whether revving or at idle. Again, while sitting, it runs just fine, revving through the range. Taking off the FPR vacuum hose and plugging it makes no difference in the pressure.
Am I looking at issues of bad fuel pump or FPR, or is that slightly low pressure acceptable?
I'm relatively new to fuel system issues. Any help? I sure want to have this car running soon . . .
