I DIDN'T FIX IT 700 1990

The 240 man is back and scratching his head with you. Glad you found the bad connection in the coil wires.

The FPR won't change the fuel pressure. It changes the volume going back to the tank. When the engine needs more fuel the vacuum drops on the vacuum to the FPR it closes up on the return line. Then more fuel for flow is available.

That could account for some lack of richness/power under a load. Check the port for vacuum. It could be clogged. If you apply vacuum to the FPR, does it hold a vacuum?
The engine is not running too rich, so it’s not stuck closed but may be open all the time. Try trouble shooting or replacing it.

I need to ask about when you checked the timing. When you sped up the engine did you happen to notice if the mark jumped higher to the left? It should have jumped out of sight.

I’m just rolling lean fuel and ignition scenarios around in my upper tool cabinet.

Phil
