Art,
Yes the thick film AMM is slower to respond than the "hotwire" LH 2.4 AMM but both were too slow to meet emissions and meet cost targets (cost is an assumption on my part).
The way I found out about the physical differences between the LH 2.4 and LH 3.1 throttle bodies was that I "assumed" they were the same, I spent many hours polishing the exterior of an LH 2.4 TB to a mirror finish (bling if you like) and installed it on the car along with the 2.4 switch. Once I started the car, I got the appropriate error of a bad throttle position sensor from the ECU, dug through the books and found the sensor vs. switch difference.
I tried to replace the switch with the sensor and it would not seat against the TB... poop, I know have a shiny paper weight for my desk! I installed the LH 3.1 TB and all was good along with the sensor, just no "bling".
