How to store used brakes components

I've heard tell of people taking brake lines and crimping them off. You might grab a few (preferably wrecked ones) from a junkyard and clamp them off, then fill it with fluid. Then you may have an easier swap when/if you need it. If you know you're going to need it, what's stopping you from installing it now?
