Have you taken out the Regulator/Brush unit from the back of the Alternator to be sure that the Brushes are OK and not worn and too short.

Art suggested this in his first answer to you .....but you never said that the Brushes were OK

This is really easy to check. The Brushes on one of my Volvos were "gone" after only 30K miles.

"the voltage regulator is about 6 years old" you said in your org Post.
