U-joint proper fitting in the front yoke 120-130

Howdy again:

Today I did an u-joint replacement on the front end of the short shaft where it connects to the tranny. I used a vise to remove the old u-joint and it was tough!

Anyway, my concern is the new u-joint in the flanged yoke (the one that bolts onto the tranny). I cannot completely fit the lock rings into both grooves. If I fit the lock ring into the groove on one side, the groove clearance on the other side is not enough to completely seat the 2nd lock ring. I did try pressing the cup further down for more groove clearance, but it was already completely seated into the spindle.

Advice? Would it be fine if the lock ring was just partially seated into the groove? And would it affect the balance if the u-joint axis is not perfectly centered between two yokes (one cup in a bit deeper than the opposite side cup.)

Thanks,

-DS
