Hot idle problem - 74 164E 140-160

I have a similar problem. My issue is the engine runs fine @ 2,000 rpm or above. If idle is allowed to drop much below that figure, it dies immediately. It will run from idle when cold for about 25 seconds, if idle is not then maintained above 1,500+, the engine quits. Accelerating, from stopped, is problematic even when putting the transmission in gear @2,000 rpm.
