NP Kitty, no one really cares or listens anyway. We try so hard to give good advice for free, but folks insist on brand name recognition as a measure of quality.

$10 CPS? Interesting. I "went aftermarket" for these after my third Bougicord/Electricfil out-of-box (or early) failure. Not for the chance another brand would work better, but because the price had gone up to $60. I didn't even know a substitute existed until the outrageous price hike drove me to look.

And we know, all of us do, that OE for a 240 is only truly OE if it is old stock never used. In 20 years, none of those parts a 240 was made from are still being produced for any auto maker, hence it is ALL aftermarket, which to us means no incoming inspection by Volvo. Probably same applies to the parts Volvo sells for 240s -- nothing is being critically assessed as there is no significant warranty implication.

Brand identification is a crap shoot. Wherever Whatever is made, China, Mexico, US or Germany, you get no more than you specify. The aftermarket in general specifies "most of them work and for at least 30 days." Parts specified by NEW product manufacturers have to support the specifier's reputation and warranty.

The CPS I bought to replace another early-failed Bougicord came in this box. It cost so little I could afford to buy two even if they turned out to be junk. I have no idea how long they will last -- I think the whole problem with out-of-box and early failure is thermal stability of the potting compound working on the like 44 gauge wire they are wound with -- not the cable sheathing problem of the originals.

Anyhow at this price I don't mind -- besides I have swapped so many I can truly do it blindfolded (which is pretty much how it is done anyway).

But $10? Someone must have made too many.
