As already mentioned - methods of removing the 3/8ths allen screws include using a 3/8 allen socket or using a long 3/8 box wrench slipped over an allen wrench (gives great leverage but awkward because it has to be reset each "bite"). I've always kept a "sawed off" 3/8 allen wrench (an inch long) in my toolbox. That gives you the option of using a long box wrench (especially to break them loose) or a simple 3/8 socket (or 3/8 swivel socket) and ratchet to wind them out. An M40 is easy to pull out lying on your back - an M41 takes more muscle and an assistant or jack would be recommended. No one has mentioned this -- may seem obvious -- take the shift lever off first from inside the car. -- Dave
