Overheating / Cooling 1800 1973

pressure testing the rad just means it is not leaking....it could be full of crud slowing down circulation. If you remove the rad cap and look sown into the rad do u see corrosion/salts building up in there? If so you may need a recore/rebuild/new rad (whichever is cost effective)
but for me this is usual behavior for the engine. It is a result of slow circulation at idle. if you blip the throttle a bit does the temp go down? You can try more fans etc...or just blip the throttle.
btw many modern cars use a resistor at the temp gage to mask fluctuation of engine temp as drivers find this worrisome.
