Re: Should I replace this water pump? 200 78

Put it this way: I just bought a replacement water pump, made in Germany (HEPU brand or something as I remember), with a cast impeller, for $39. And a T-belt tensioner for $20. The timing belt and seals cost me $20 for the kit of 2 seals and the belt. So, for $80, I get the entire array of parts to do the whole job.

I usually carry a spare or old water pump on long trips, just because I have them lying around here and there. It might save you a walk. Keep the old one as a spare and you'll have plenty of peace of mind.

I agree that the newer pumps don't last as long. I expect 50k and that's about all. If I get more--60k on mine right now--I'm happy.
