Last time I had our 91 740 in for a front end alignment, the mechanic ( been doing FE's for years) said, as you have heard, that the only adjustment on the 740 is for toe in and he did the car on the conventional front only setup. As other respondants have noted, it's possible to monkey with other FE parameters by drilling elongated holes and changing strut rods etc.but few guys are gona want to get involved in that. As long as the car handles well and wears tires evenly, that's about all you can ask for. Our car was chewing up the outside drivers side tire and drifting to the right pre alignment. Afterwards, it tracked straight as an arrow and would stop (hands off) just as straight. Forget what I paid, 30- 40 buck range I think.
