"the point of my post is simple: DO NOT COUNT ON YOUR RADAR DETECTOR SAVING YOU FROM A TICKET...EVER. certainly, having a radar detector is better than NOT having a radar dector at all, but don't bank on it. "
Having a radar detector may alert you to radar speed detection. However, traffic cops get a much greater sense of satisfaction when they issue a speeding ticket to someone who has a radar detector. I had a traffic cop discuss this at length with me one day. He didn't cut any slack to someone who used a radar detector. When a traffic cops share stories with their co-workers over coffee and doughnuts they brag about issuing speeding tickets to truckers and people using radar detectors.
I'll take my chances without a radar detector. Radar detectors are illegal in Canada.
