But when Dave had you checking with the test light, it was pulsing. Can you check that again? If the test lamp flashes connected to coil #1, your pickup coil is doing the job, and I apologize for leading you astray with my reference to the previous post explaining "basic ignition theory". Sounds like it still may be the brown wire to the starter or things have changed since your test lamp post.
