Electronic ignition, yes or no. 120-130

I know you have as many folks saying keep the points as you do saying get rid of them, but if you could install an ignitor for less than $90 that replaces the points and looks stock why wouldn't you do the upgrade. I installed the Pertronix #2844 in my 1966 1800S a few months back, and other than better cold starts, better mileage, and piece of mind that the points or condenser aren't there to fail, there really isn't a lot of difference than the stock setup. I left the condenser mounted to the dizzy and put the points in the ashtray as a back up. If the ignitor ever fails (highly unlikely) then in ten minutes I would be on the road again with the points.... Also you do need to check the application that is right for your car, they make two different units for older Volvos with the SU's. (FI cars are a little different due to the FI contacts in the dizzy) The Pertronix catalog shows #2844 for the 66 -68 122 series.

Just my two cents worth, but the Pertronix ignitor is one of the better upgrades I have made. Check out the following link for application.....
