This backfiring is because the mixture is too lean on decelleration to be fired by the spark plug, but the heat of the exhaust is sufficient, so you get firing in the manifold or pipes. I think that the djet system cuts fuel on decel, not sure how much. This kind of decel cut is for fuel efficiency.

Do you have the stock exhaust or has it been opened up?
