Thanks for the reply Matt

And no there was not much play in the driveshaft it did go on but was tight. Leak was between the OD and the transmission. Good idea to try and tighten it up first--wish I had thought of it. Transmission and OD still work fine. I just want to solve the noise problem. Haynes book doesn't talk about minimum clearance.

I hope that someone who has made this swap can make some comments on their driveshaft experience.
