Hello John:

Great explanation, thank you. Of course it would not affect the compression, the piston is still going to go all the way up due to the crankshaft. Like I said, I am a newbie to this but it is all becoming clearer.

If anyone wants to explain what happens mechanically to change the timing advance based on the engine speed I am all ears. I assume our Amazons do not have vacuum advances. Just out of curiousity, do 63-67 Corvettes?
