S90 for a new driver? S90-V90 1998

Well, I'll be the curmugeon here and state that this car is not appropriate for a 16 y.o. driver. There's good evidence that 16 year olds shouldn't even be driving, especially on their own. The car has way too much power for a novice driver and is too big and heavy. It is safe, but so is a nice late model 240 with a more appropriate power range.

That said, I'll repeat once again the advice my insurance agent once gave me, which is to buy a car that you can throw away when your child gets into an accident, which surely she will, that you can't repair out of pocket. Take out liability on the car and nothing else, and whatever you do make sure your child is the only owner of the car. This will save big liability problems down the road when that lawsuit comes knocking.
