If it is off 180° why don't you just switch the plug wires straight across?

The gear is normally easy to pull but sometimes gets gummed into place if the
engine has varnish/gum in the crankcase. You do have to twist as you pull and
getting it stabbed into the oil pump is a trick sometimes. You need something
like a big, skinny, loooooong screwdriver to turn it to the right position,
which is hard to determine.
