What's with my windshield wipers? SAFETY PROBLEM! 850 1994

I had the same super dangerous problem that in my opinion is a serious safety flaw for volvo, and they should fix. But in my case, I had used the wipers in heavy snow alot and the splines were worn too much to engage the arms. New arms didn't help! Had to take the whole mechanism out, (about 220.00 at dealer) reinstall the motor. Real pain because I forgot to mark where the at rest postion was! Took 3 hours just to re-align.
