There is a good writeup out there on the web to repair this. For some reason, I thought it was more of a problem on my year (1998 S70), when cheaper or lower quality plastics were used for many interior parts. Interesting to hear it affected the 850 also.

My dash is exhibiting a slight rattle under certain conditions, so I am going to be investigating this when I get a chance.
