The light switch in the late 1997-99 is a bummer. It does fall apart all by itself. And, no, the light switch is not supposed to activate the locks :)

The best way to remove the light switch is to pull the blank switch plate off, then push out the fog lamp switch, then reach behind the light switch and push it out. Trying to pry the switch out can result in broken plastic.
