Mark: I know I've reached the end of my tooling ( no compression gauge, no O-scope--the only tool I have that is more complex than my Kmart socket set is the OBD reader), and I suspect that I'm uncomfortably far from the boundaries of my competence. Looks like I'm gonna have to let the mercenaries handle this fight. How likely is it that a well-equipped indy mech can handle it from here? If not likely, or if there's a danger that we're going to get into dealer-only computerized parts, how dangerous to the long-term health of the car will it be for me to drive it about 125 miles to the nearest dealer?
I appreciate your help, but lack the basic skills and tools to get farther in the driveway.
