I know I'm opening up a can of worms here but I need advice in which RWD used Volvo S.W. to buy. Here is my situation: Wife wants new (used) car, not an S.U.V. and not a stick. Currently driving a Honda that has never had a problem. She wants a V-70 but I don't care for them and they are FWD(I know Hondas are FWD but they put the "R" in reliable). I have a number of older 4wd/RWD trucks and I have never had a problem out of a drivetrain, that is my reason for wanting RWD. OK, here are my choices and the pro's and con's of each model as I see it.
940 S.W. Good reliable Slooooooowwwwww S.W. Really just a 740 right?
960 S.W. Same body as 940 but straight 6 engine and I.R.S. How can a 6 cyl. RWD car not be reliable?(I hear many bad things about these cars) V90 Same car but more bells and whistles (don't see too many around)
V70 5 cylinder engine in an East to West layout (something is inherently wrong with the layout, just doesn't look right) Also brake pad and rotor eaters.
I would appreciate any input/corrections/advice that anyone has. I have never owned a Volvo so I am a bit leery of the costs of ownership.
Many thanks
Jamie
