I own a 960 and a 940 SE. The 960 is now out of service due to a broken timing belt. The belt life had not been exceeded and the belt broke due to some hard material gauling one of the cam bearings and causing the intake cam to try and lock up thus snapping the belt and trashing the valves.
I bought the 940 in place of fixing the 960 as the price was about the same with no guarantee that the same problem couldn't happen again. I plan on staying with the 940 as it has plenty of power and torque is almost identical to the 960. If you desire more HP or Torque then the 940 Turbo has alot of options that aren't available to the 960. That's my $.02
