I had pretty much the same problem with the Bosch alt in my '70 145.
There are 3 Diodes in the bellhousing, and one of the ground leads had broken off its pad. Soldering it back into place fixed the problem.
If the diode is toast, replacements can still be bought at Radio Shack.
