I strongly suspect that your suggestions contain the answer....
what has gotten me is that there is no power at all to the car. I did last night manage to get soem power through but don't know how I did it--but at some point the interior dome light came on. Upon trying to start though I'm back to a dead car. It's pretty much like there isn't a battery in it at all--completely, totally, actually dead.
