"Another factor is the weight of oil in the dashpots. If the stumble only happens while you're opening the throttle and not at any steady throttle opening, that just means you need heavier oil. For some reason, many people use ATF in there, which is almost always too light."

I've used ATF for decades. I know that the SU oil wieght debate is not as wide ranging as it is in overdrives (in that regard I've been a Castrol 20/50 devotee, problem free in one D type and 2 J types). As far as the carbs, maybe I should try, what ...30wt in the dashpots?
