garmin has the best marketing hence more people like it.
I would go with a Tom-Tom unit.
As a boater I always use(d) Lowrance units over Garmin. Just a preference but they are GPS units not MP3 players etc.
Pep-boys caries both so you can compare
Don't get lost.
