The car is fixed! I had the Volvo dealership analyze the car, and they determined the fuel pump was weak. After the pump was replaced, the car still did not run. Lucky for me, the dealership only charges a flat $75 for a diagnosis. Turns out the timing belt slipped 3 teeth. The explains everything. I was only charged for the fuel pump, but it was not cheap ($575). The car now runs very good. However, I noticed now that the power steering pump leaks like a seive. However, I feel I can fix that myself.
Thanks for all the good advice.
