My personal opinion would be... don't worry about overheating the ECU. My race car has the computer *in* the stock 142 glovebox, wrapped in foam to protect from vibration. I'm sure your proposed mounting scheme is going to keep the ECU cooler than what mine typically sees under race conditions - header next to the firewall, no insulation of any type in the area - it *does* get hot inside that car. I've never had an ECU failure of any sort.
